Greggs customer ‘deflated’ after taking bite into beef pasty and hit with ‘confusing’ taste

A GREGGS customer was left feeling "deflated" after taking a bite into a beef pasty – that was missing a very key ingredient.

Pastry-loving Paul purchased his favourite meat and vegetable snack from the renowned Brit bakery chain but realised it was unusually light.

Its "unusual shape" also raised a red flag for the Greggs fanatic, but he dismissed his concerns as he rushed back to work in Hull.

But after taking a bite of his pasty, Paul realised it was "a shell" of its usual self – as they had forgotten to add the filling.

Despite forking out £1.85 for his beef and vegetable treat, the hungry customer didn't have time to return to the store and lodge a complaint.

Paul told Hull Live: "When I received the pasty I saw it was an unusual shape and I thought, 'this is strange'.

"On my way back to work, I bit into it and realised that it had no filling in it at all.

"I was quite deflated. I paid £1.85 for a shell – a very disappointing shell.

"I showed my friends and they all laughed at me. I was quite annoyed in the end as I didn't have time to go back, so I ended up without any lunch.

"You just wonder, 'how did that get out on the shelf?'"

Despite his pastry problem, Paul said it has not put him off buying his regular lunchtime snack.

He continued: "I'll still go back to Greggs because it's my favourite, but I'll have to check the weight of my pasty next time before I leave.

"They can trick me once, but they won't trick me twice!"

A Greggs spokesperson said: “Oh crumbs! We certainly didn’t intend for our Beef and Vegetable Pasty to be given to this customer without the tasty filling.

“We’d love the customer to get in touch with us through our customer care team so we can put it right for them."

We previously told how a woman was left "gutted" when her Greggs sausage rolls arrived with no meat in them.

Kayleigh O’Brien woke up at home feeling a bit flaky after a night out and decided some food would perk her up so ordered some nosh on the Just Eat delivery app.

But the 30-year-old was left baffled when she chowed down on the savoury snack and discovered it was nothing but pastry.

After sharing a video of her empty pastry on Twitter, users joked it must have been a vegetarian sausage roll.

One quipped: "Ohhh this is the new vegan sausage roll."
