King Charles to throw ‘larger Christmas party’ but Sussexes ‘won’t be there’

King Charles and Camilla are gearing up to throw a bigger Palace Christmas party than usual but not all royals will be there.

Harry and Meghan are not expected to be among the guests, with the couple a source of huge controversy following the release of their incendiary Netflix documentary.

The Christmas soiree is aimed to give a positive end to what has been a challenging period for the monarchy following the death of the Queen and the ongoing Harry and Meghan saga.

The Sandringham knees-up will be the first without the late Her Majesty and as such this year’s event is expected to be billed as a sign of unity.

The Queen hosted family Christmases regularly at Sandringham House, and this year’s announcement from Buckingham Palace marks a continuation of that tradition.

Multiple members of the Royal Family are also expected to make the traditional church walk together on Christmas Day, in another move designed to show togetherness.

William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to be at the event, but it's been reported that William’s brother Harry and wife Meghan Markle will be nowhere in sight after the launch of the documentary.

The series tells the remarkable story of the couple’s exit from the UK and the working Buckingham Palace Royal Family and points to major tensions between the two parties.

Edward and Sophie, the count and countess of Wessex are also expected to be making an appearance.

TheMirrorreports that Prince Andrew is able to attend the event.

A palace source told theSun: “Camilla is keen that her family are at the heart of Christmas, particularly as Charles won’t have his youngest son there.”

“It is an extremely important Christmas coming just months after they last all gathered for the Queen’s funeral.

“During last Christmas the family were desperately trying to sort out Prince Andrew and his sex abuse case and then there was the incident with the intruder carrying a crossbow at Windsor Castle.

“We saw the togetherness at the Princess of Wales’ carol concert this week and Christmas will be held in the same spirit.”
