A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an elderly pensioner was found dead at her home.
Emergency services rushed to the home of the woman, aged in her 80s, on June 1 but paramedics pronounced her dead.
Cops are treating the incident as suspicious and have arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
He is in police custody.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
The woman’s next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist liaison officers.
Det Ch Insp Caroline Corfield from Warwickshire Police said: “An investigation has been launched and a number of enquiries are now ongoing to ascertain the circumstances of this incident.
“As part of our enquiries, we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area between 7pm last night and 9am this morning.
“Anyone with any information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 94 of 1 June 2021.
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this difficult time, and we would ask that their privacy is respected.”
