A man riding a bicycle on Colfax Avenue Thursday night in Aurora was killed by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash — and police are trying to identify the vehicle.
The bicyclist died at the scene near the intersection of Colfax and Kenton Street shortly before midnight, according to an Aurora Police Department post on Twitter.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop, police said. Police investigators “do not yet know a description of the vehicle or contributing factors.”
After the fatal crash, police temporarily closed Colfax between Joliet and Kingston streets. The identity of the man who was killed wasn’t released.
On Friday morning, officers appealed to the public for help. Anyone with information, including vehicle dashboard camera footage, is asked to contact Aurora police.
