The UK is set to sizzle this weekend with scorching temperatures expected across the country. Blazing heat travelling northward from the Azores will see some areas possibly reaching higher than 30C.
Brian Gaze from The Weather Outlook told Express.co.uk that “it’s possible that we’ll reach 30 or 31C on Saturday and Sunday”.
He teased: “Possibly 32C”.
The expert said the “the highest values” will be in “central and south eastern England”. Mr Gaze said an “area of high pressure” is “coming up from the south west”.
He added that “southern European” sun was heading for Britain, but that it may not be around for long.
According to the forecaster, “there is a bit of uncertainty” surrounding how long the mini-heatwave will last.
He warned it may be “cooler after Sunday” so Brits best make the most of the summer sun this weekend.
Rain is likely to sweep across Britain on Sunday evening, however it’s unknown whether Elton John’s set at Glastonbury will be a washout or whether the showers will miss the festival.
Meanwhile heavy rain started to fall at Worthy Farm on Wednesday morning, threatening to dampen the spirits of the early arrivals at the iconic music event.

The deluge lasted for about 15 minutes from 11.30am before easing to steady rainfall.
Fortunately forecasters are anticipating that the wet weather at the Somerset site will ease as the music kicks off on Friday.
Weather charts show heat of at least 25C hitting the site by the weekend.
That pales into comparison to the 30C forecast by Netweather charts to hit the capital by early afternoon on Saturday.
Lancashire and Yorkshire could face temperatures in the late 20s on Saturday afternoon before Sunday starts in a similar vein.
WXCharts predicts 28C in London and similar across the south east including Norfolk.
Cornwall and Devon are likely to struggle to make it out of the teens along with Wales and Scotland but the rest of Britain is set to see strong sunshine.
After a few days of cooling weather, the south of Britain will comfortably return to the 20s.
Met Office 5 day forecast:
Wednesday: Showers across Britain will ease making way for a dry evening and night.
Thursday: Sunny spells and scattered showers. Some potential thunder but feeling warm and muggy.
Friday to Sunday: Very warm and hot for many, especially in the south east of England which will see much sunshine. The weather will slowly turn unsettled from the north west with showers spreading across the UK.
