Meghan and Harry hit back as they say Megxit was never ‘about privacy’

Meghan and Harry have struck out at claims that the infamous Megxit saga was sparked by their desire for more privacy.

Previously, experts had claimed that the hunt for private space to live their lives was a leading factor in their decision to leave the Buckingham Palace fold.

Indeed, the couple went to court in the UK over privacy, with Harry having said the move across the pond was a step “into what I hope will be a quieter life”.

However, speaking to the New York Times, the couple’s spokesperson, Ashley Hansen, pushed back saying: “Their statement announcing their decision to step back mentions nothing of privacy and reiterates their desire to continue their roles and public duties.

“Any suggestion otherwise speaks to a key point of this series.

“They are choosing to share their story, on their terms, and yet the tabloid media has created an entirely untrue narrative that permeates press coverage and public opinion.

“The facts are right in front of them”.

The news comes following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new Netflix documentary, which features masses of footage and images from their personal archives, including from their first date.

Harry & Meghan is understood to be a “collaboration” between the royals and the movie streaming giant, according to the show’s director, Liz Garbus.

In the early parts of 2020, the couple gathered some 15 hours of home footage that has been used heavily in the documentary.

Meghan is also claimed to have live-streamed Harry’s proposal to a friend – that footage is also included in the new programme.

Discussions of Harry’s desire for privacy are only set to reignite in January, when the deeply controversial book Spare is set to be released which will chart the memoirs of the younger brother to heir William Prince of Wales.
