Ronnie Kray lived a life of luxury behind bars, a pal has revealed.
During his time at Broadmoor his room was so plush it was compared to a hotel.
The thug’s biographer Fred Dinenage visited him numerous times and was stunned by how nice the conditions were.
He said: “Ronnie really had quite a smart room there. He had been allowed to decorate it the way he wanted it with all sorts of yellows and purples, which were very much his colours and a nice dressing table with all his little ornaments and photographs on it.
“He loved his music. He was allowed a record player in his room. It was very much a Ron room. It felt very much like a hotel bedroom.”
Ronnie also convinced one of the fellow inmates to be his personal butler.
And he was able to get a tailor to visit every October to make him a new suit.
Fred, 78, said: “Ronnie has respect for the other patients but Ronnie always regarded himself, probably quite rightly, within the Broadmoor hierarchy, he regarded himself as being the top dog, the main man.”
