Monster mum and dad 'locked daughter, 10, in dungeon for months and forced her to drink blood to rid her of demons'

A MONSTER mum and dad have been accused of locking their 10-year-old daughter in a dungeon for months and forcing her to drink blood to rid her of “demons”.

Randy Swopes, 48, and his wife Katherine have been charged with unlawful restraint in Illinois, and have had their four children taken off them.

Randy, who has previously claimed to be Jesus reborn, also allegedly baptised his daughter in another attempt to rid her of evil spirits.

He also reportedly sewed up his son’s buttocks to “cure” his Crohn’s Disease.

Despite his startling behaviour, Illinois Judge Victoria Rossetti has ruled Swopes is fit to stand trial – and the defendant says he wants to represent himself in court.

A stand-by lawyer will be available to him.

Stand-by lawyer Eric Rinehart will be on hand to assist, but as Rinehart told The Chicago Tribune: “I’ll assist him, but he’ll make all of the strategic decisions.”

Swopes is currently scheduled for trial April 29.

FATHER CLAIMED TO BE JESUS

The charges Swopes and his wife face carry a potential prison term of one to three years, but also can result in work release or probation.

Prosecutors allege the young girl was forced to live in the basement for close to a year, dealing with flooding when it rained, using a bucket to bathe and going to the toilet in a training potty for todlers.

Waukegan police went to the house following a tip that a girl was being held prisoner.

They were shocked when the parents reportedly explained “she was possessed by a demon”, police said.

Illinois Department of Children and Family Services officials said the couple's four minor children were taken into protective custody after the arrests.

The girl found in the basement required hospital attention and has been placed in a foster home.

The Tribune said DCFS officials confirmed that Randy and Katherine Swopes have had several contacts with the agency since 1994, and have had their children removed from their care in the past.
