Mum, 21, 'froze' in terror as 'serial sex attacker' raped her after knifepoint kidnap – and saved DNA to 'snare him'

A MUM "froze in terror" when she was dragged from the street at knifepoint and raped by a serial sex attacker in a five-hour horror ordeal, a court heard today.

The 21-year-old was walking home from a nightclub in Watford, Herts, when she was allegedly bundled into a Ford Mondeo by Joseph McCann.

She told the Old Bailey she saved DNA on a tissue she used on herself after the alleged attack to snare the 34-year-old.

Jurors were told she was already feeling "quite drunk" when McCann plied her with cocaine and Malibu and took her back to her flat.

Giving evidence, she said: "We didn't have sex. He raped me. I didn't even look at him.

"I just froze. I didn't say anything.'

"He kept saying because I was his girlfriend I had to do what he said."

The court was told the woman had left her pals after drinking most of a bottle of wine while getting ready and three or four Red Bull and vodkas at Prism nightclub.

She decided to walk home and was on the phone to someone when McCann is said to have pulled up alongside her.

The alleged victim asked her friend to phone police but he didn't hear her – with McCann then putting a knife to her neck.

Jurors heard he chucked the phone out the car window after bundling her in – leaving her "shaking with fear".

'I FELT A KNIFE'

She sobbed as she recalled how he put his arm around her so she could not move and forced her into the passenger seat.

The woman said: "I felt a knife to my neck."

After plying her with a bottle of rum he warned her he had just done an 18-year stretch in prison, according to the woman's recorded police interview.

He tricked her into revealing her address and the terrified mum of one showed him her driving licence, which had her details on it, the court heard.

McCann demanded she wear a black jacket, dress and Chelsea boots, and pull down her clothing so he could take photos of her as they drove to her house, it's claimed.

'I COULDN'T RUN'

She told officers in her police interview McCann said she would join a "firm" if she had sex with him and become one of his "15 girlfriends."

He also called her "stupid" and bragged about his connections within the traveller community, she said.

Jurors were told yesterday he wore a wig to rape her and said: "It is normal, it is what they do in the traveller community."

When asked today why she did not scream to neighbours for help as she walked to the flat she said: "What if i did shout and they didn't hear me? What if i was left stranded?
"I was in heels. I couldn't run. He would have caught me."

'FIVE HOUR ORDEAL'

The mum claims she was raped by McCann before he took her to her mother's house around five hours after first picking her up.

McCann repeatedly told her she was beautiful and him her phone number so they could keep in touch, it was said.

He is accused of 37 charges including multiple rapes, kidnap and false imprisonment involving 11 victims, aged between 11 and 71, over three days in April and May.

McCann is said to have carried out the attacks in Cheshire, Manchester, Lancashire, London and Hertfordshire between April 20 and May 5.
