- When the vehicle hit the ground the impact caused the airbags to release
A pick-up truck driver has experienced the shock of his life when his airbag deployed as he reversed off a pole – sending his sports cap flying.
The man, who sat in the driver’s seat of a Chevy Silverado, had managed to drive the vehicle halfway up a pole somewhere in Northern America.
Footage showed the moment he reversed the truck backwards, gradually backing it down from the pole which appeared to hold a sign in a car park.
A man filming encouraged the driver, saying: ‘Almost. Keep going, keep going. You got it, you got it.’

It is assumed the truck must have had a significant impact with the pole because the cement at its base is cracked, with the bollard at an extreme angle.
As the truck collapsed back down to the ground the driver was jolted from side to side by the force of the impact.
As the man filming shouted ‘there you go’ there was a sudden pop sound.
The driver’s hat went flying out of the open window as the airbags were dramatically deployed.
One comment read: ‘That’s turned a $3,000 job its a $30,000 one.’

Another comment read: ‘My jaw dropped so fast when I realised that was an airbag.’
Another added: ‘I thought he exploded the first time I watched it.’
The video uploader was quick to reassure those in the comments that the driver was completely unharmed.
They wrote: ‘He didn’t. He was okay. Thought the video was hilarious and wanted it to go viral.’
