Malaysia: Plane crashes onto highway in deadly fireball

Ten people have died after a private jet crashed onto a busy motorway in Malaysia.

Dashcam video shows the a huge explosion as the Beechcraft Model 390 – a private jet – nosedived into traffic earlier today.

Unsuspecting drivers are forced to steer to safety to avoid being caught in the flames.

Onboard the aircraft was six passengers along with two flight crew members. Two others – on a motorcycle and in a car – were also killed.

It left Langkawi International Airport and was headed to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.

Disaster struck as the plane attempted to land.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia said in a statement: “First contact made by the aircraft with Subang Air Traffic Control Tower was at 2.47pm and landing clearance was given at 2.48pm.”

At 2.51pm, the “Control Tower observed smoke originating from the crash site but no mayday call was made by the aircraft,” the statement added.

Selangor Police Head Hussein Omar Khan also said: “There was no emergency call, the aircraft had been given clearance to land.”

Transport minister Anthony Loke said that while investigations were ongoing, “no one survived the crash”.

“Victims (on the road) will also still need to be identified, will update in due time,” he added at a press conference.

“Forensic confirmation needs to be taken.”

Police said Johari Harun, a state assembly member in central Pahang state in charge of housing and the environment, was among the plane passengers killed.
