POLICE Scotland is being probed over the circumstances which led to the murder of pregnant teacher Marelle Sturrock.
Cop chiefs will be quizzed on what they knew about the tragic school miss, 35, who was found slain alongside her unborn baby at her flat in Craigton, Glasgow.
Her suspected killer boyfriend David Yates, 36, vanished before his body was pulled from a park reservoir nine miles away.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has called in the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner to scrutinise if more could have been done to keep Marelle safe.
A spokesman said: “Crown Office and the Procurator Fiscal Service has instructed the PIRC to carry out an investigation into the death of Marelle Sturrock.
“Once our enquiries are complete a report will be submitted to COPFS.”

Police have refused to reveal whether Marelle or Yates were known to them before her body was found on Tuesday morning.
The mum-to-be, originally from Wick, Caithness, was 29 weeks pregnant at the time of her murder.
Yates' corpse was recovered from the water at Mugdock Country Park near Glasgow last night.
Officers yesterday confirmed an investigation into the woman's death was ongoing but revealed there is "nothing to suggest anyone else was involved".

It is understood Marelle’s worried colleagues at Sandwood Primary in Penilee, Glasgow, alerted police after calling at her home when she failed to show up for work on Tuesday.
We told how officers then discovered her dead inside at 8.40am.
Headteacher Fiona Donnelly paid tribute to Marelle, who was also a talented am-dram star and had performed on stage with Yates.
Ms Donnelly said: “Marelle has been a much-loved member of our school community since her probationary year more than six years ago and has taught many year groups throughout her time at the school.
“We will all miss her so much. She was a lovely, kind, diligent and considerate person who loved and made time for everyone.
“Marelle used her artistic talents across the school and was our music champion who has been a key player in the success of our school choirs; with one of her classes going to see her on stage at The King’s in one of her many acting roles outside of school.
“We are a school community in mourning and are devastated by the tragic news of her death and pass on our deepest condolences to her family and friends as we all come to terms with our loss.”
Meanwhile, shocked locals continued to leave tributes including flowers, a teddy bear and a doll outside Marelle’s home as police stood guard.
