An escaped troop of cheeky monkeys who bite, scratch and fling poo are on the loose in a busy town.
The pet marmosets – which have “a very high temper” – are being hunted after breaking out of their owner’s house.
Locals in Carnforth, Lancs, are being asked to keep an eye out for the runaway primates – but not feed, pet or approach them.

Wildlife website Animals Around The Globe warns: “These monkeys fight and throw faeces at each other most of the time. They have a very high temper and may bite, scratch and attack you.”
A Lancaster City Council spokesman said: “As marmosets originate in tropical locations, they require a warmer climate. They are likely to try and find somewhere warm overnight, so check bird boxes, garages and sheds. Please do not attempt to catch the monkeys as this may cause risk of injury.”
Anyone who spots the marmosets should call the council’s animal wardens.
