Rugby player cleared of GBH after punching teammate in love triangle row

A RUGBY player who hit his teammate in a love triangle bust-up has told of his relief after a jury said it was self-defence.

David Gwilliam, 30, hit Medway player Johnathan Rumsey over his links to Lucy Hawkins, 26.

Lucy was with ex-Para Rumsey for six years before David. Rumsey later got a restraining order for harassing her.

David hit him before a match in Bexleyheath, South East London, in March 2016, breaking his eye socket and cheekbone.
