Shocking moment love rivals armed with knives brawl in early morning duel on residential street after one discovered his ex-girlfriend was inside house

THIS is the astonishing moment two love rivals attack each other with knives in an early morning DUEL in the middle of a residential street.

Bare-chested Alan Bishop, 40, confronted Russell Morris, 45, at his home after discovering his ex-girlfriend was inside.

Incredible CCTV footage shows Bishop draw a blade before Morris appears also armed with a knife.

The pair then repeatedly lunge and slash at each other in the front garden of the property in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, before moving on to the pavement.

At one point Bishop – who was wearing a scarf around his face – falls to the ground as a member of the public tries to intervene.

But the duel – described in court as “wild west” behaviour – continues before Bishop ends up with puncture wounds to the arm and chest.

The horrific fight took place in full view of residents at a block of flats at 7.30am on December 7 last year.

A concerned neighbour then called the police who arrested Morris after seeing Bishop's injuries before both men were eventually nicked.

The pair both admitted affray and possessing a bladed article at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on last week.

Both Morris, and Bishop, both of Stoke-on-Trent, were each jailed for 20 months.

A court heard hours before the stand-off Bishop banged on Morris's door, shouting: "Get out here, you are cheating on me."

Judge Fletcher said the incident was "terrifying" for members of the public who were nearby.

He told them both: "Affray is an offence against the maintenance of good order in this country.

"That sort of behaviour in a place where people live can never be condoned or accepted."

Prosecutor Neil Ahuja said: "The incident appears to have occurred as a result of an issue between them over Bishop's ex-girlfriend, who was at the time in Morris's flat.

"They engaged in what is perhaps best described as 'Wild West' behaviour outside the flat, armed with knives, each engaging in violence towards the other.

Andrew Turnock, defending Morris, said: "It was Mr Bishop who started this incident.

"The ridiculous stand-off that followed was probably six of one and half-a-dozen of the other.

"Unfortunately trouble was brought to his door and he dealt with it inappropriately."

Stuart Muldoon, defending Bishop, said: "He accepts and acknowledges the seriousness of this incident."
