A grim video has emerged showing a chemist in Australia appearing to be overrun by a group of rats
The disturbing footage showed the rats swarming around the Newtown Chemist Warehouse store in Sydney's inner-west and rummaging through the aisles.
The pitter patter of tiny paws leaves quite an impression on the snug store which is soon strewn with rubbish.
At periods, the rat convoy stops to scramble up the aisles with some even appearing to inspect the product ranges.
Whether the rats intended to buy anything or were just browsing will likely never be known.
The clip first surfaced after it was videoed on the weekend and posted on Instagram by by user Newtown Affirmations.
The account captioned the footage: 'underground rat rave at the Newtown Chemist Warehouse last night.'
This is slightly unfair characterisation as the rats didn’t appear to be dancing and were also travelling without a sound system or DJ.
After sharing the clip on Instagram, many of the poster's followers flocked to the comments to give their two cents on the ratty encounter.
One said: "I for one welcome our new medically enhanced rat overlords."
Others said the situation reminded them of the film Ratatouille.
One said: "Remi needs burn cream after being abused working in the Mary’s kitchen okay."
Another agreed; "Good to see remys finally taking time off work and livin it up."
Others even thought the furry scene was cute!
They gushed: "Idk why I find this kinda cute they’re just vibing squeaky little thing."

After the footage went viral, the Chemist Warehouse released a statement to local media.
A spokesman said: "The video of live rats in the aisle of Chemist Warehouse store in Sydney is a significant pest control issue at the store which Chemist Warehouse has moved immediately to address and eradicate.
“Any stock in the store which was in any way exposed to contamination from the unwelcome pests will be removed and replaced.
“We are able to assure customers that no medicine storage areas in the pharmacy dispensary were exposed to rat contamination, but we will be rigorous in ensuring no risk whatsoever to any customer purchasing any product from the store – if there is any doubt about contamination, the stock will be removed and destroyed.
“Pest control experts have been engaged to eradicate this problem as quickly as possible. This is a problem that has been magnified due to recent extreme weather and heavy rain activity.”
