A scorching heatwave that could last 'several weeks' is reportedly forecast to return to the UK next month.
Brits have endured lashings from intense thunderstorms over the past couple of days, bringing torrential downpours, hail, and lightning across the country.
The glorious heatwave we were experiencing at the beginning of June met a soggy end as the Met Office issues another yellow weather warning for rainfall this week.
However, next month is set to bring a brighter side – and weather – with it when it arrives, Wales Online writes.
Although the current spell of good weather has seen a dramatic turn, a long-range forecast from the BBC for the end of June and the beginning of July says there are "robust signals" that high pressure will stay for "several weeks".
The feature will mean higher mercury for large parts of the UK.
It comes after England saw a new record for the hottest day of the year so far on Monday after beating previous records.
According to the BBC, the high pressure will hit between Monday, June 28, and Sunday, July 11.
It says: "There are some robust signals for high pressure to be more of a feature nearby or overhead later in July.
"The alternate pattern for the first half of July is that high pressure lingers overhead throughout, leading to several weeks of warmer than normal, dry, and largely sunny weather."
Whereas the Met Office long-range forecast predicts next week seeing "unsettled conditions" at the start with a risk of more thunderstorms and longer spells of downpours.
It says: "Through the first half of next week, Atlantic air looks likely to spread across the country from the west, bringing a change to cooler and more changeable conditions.

"This will likely bring spells of rain or showers interspersed with periods of dry weather and sunny spells."
Although temperatures are believed to recover to near-normal levels by the end of the month.
It may be too early to say for sure, but "models suggest that usual summertime conditions are most probable," for the first two weeks of July.
It goes on to say: "We are likely to see periods of dry, settled, and warm weather interspersed with occasional days of thicker cloud, rain and stronger winds. Temperatures are likely to be close to average nationally."
