A science teacher with no medical qualifications who was arrested after she allegedly administered a Covid vaccine to a teen at her home has been "reassigned" from her classroom duties.
Laura Russo, 54, from Long Island, New York, is alleged to have jabbed a 17-year-old boy with a Johnson & Johnson vaccine at her home on New Year's Eve without the teen's parental consent.
In fact, reports suggested that the boy – a friend of Russo's son – went to her because his own mother was against him getting the jab.
Police were notified after the teen left Russo’s home and told his mother about the jab, reports stated.
Russo is a science teacher with Herricks Public Schools in New Hyde Park, a village in the Towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, according to the district’s website.
She has been taken out of the classroom as a criminal investigation proceeds.
“The individual in question is a district employee who has been removed from the classroom and reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation,” the district said in a statement to NBC 4.

NBC 4 reported that it is unclear where she got the approved vaccine dose, which is only approved for Americans 18 years or older, but video has surfaced about how she allegedly administered it.
“There you go, at home vaccine,” the teen sitting in a chair says while a woman wipes his arm.
The Snapchat video is captioned with “never been so uncomfy in his life.”
Russo was charged with unauthorized practice of a profession under New York State Education Law and released on a desk appearance ticket.
She is due to appear in court on Jan. 21, police said.
