This is the terrifying moment passengers scream as a Russian Aeroflot jet shakes uncontrollably after being hit with turbulence.

Passengers on a Boeing 777-300 aircraft panicked yesterday during a flight on the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Moscow route, with a woman suffering a minor head injury during the unrest, according to Russian media.

As the plane flew over the northern Ural Mountains, the aircraft suddenly began to shake.

Passengers can be seen gripping the seats in front of them in a video circulated on social media, with screams and clamouring audible.

A female passenger called Lyubov who later spoke to Russian newspaper Izvestia said the crew warned people about the turbulence, but no one expected it to be so powerful.

She said passengers were initially asked to fasten their seat belts and remain seated, but were later asked to lie down on the floor.

‘It felt like we were falling down. It was scary. It all started unexpectedly – there was strong turbulence. The woman who was injured was in the toilet at that moment and was trying to get to her place. When the plane fell down, she received a head injury,’ Lyubov said.

She said the woman tried to sit in her seat as the plane began to shake, but lost her balance and fell in the aisle, resulting in bleeding.

The crew then began searching for doctors on board.

Among the passengers was the Minister of Health of the Kamchatka Territory, Alexander Gashkov, who provided first aid to the woman and bandaged her, Izvestia reports.

Passengers talked anxiously amongst one another as the plane started to shake. Some of the flyers could be seen holding onto the seats in scenes of panic

When the plane landed in Moscow, the victim was taken off first and handed over to doctors to be examined in more detail.

Last week, Bonza cabin crew members were injured after their plane suffered mid-air turbulence during a regional Queensland flight in Australia.

Flight AB 626 was travelling from Rockhampton bound for the Sunshine Coast when the plane hit unexpected and severe turbulence.

The aircraft safely landed at its destination without further incident.

The number of cabin crew members injured and the extent of their injuries has not been revealed by the airline.
