Thug who beat boss’ kitten to death after boozy Xmas party walks free from court

A man who horrifically killed a three-month-old kitten in front of horrified onlookers has walked free from court.

Bibek Katwal committed the heinous act on the Bengal kitten called Brock after an alcohol-fueled four-hour session at a work Christmas do.

It took place at the Surry Hills pub in Australia on December 20, 2020.

The man's boss had gone outside to tell his girlfriend to wait for him, while he returned to the pub to pick up his phone.

But the group saw Katwal, 26, come outside holding a heavily bleeding kitten by the back of its neck – he then proceeded to throw it on the ground.

While committing the act, he said: “It was already dead.”

Shockingly, he then slung the poor animal against a brick wall, while one man shouted: “What the f*** is wrong with you?”

He responded by saying “it's alright”, before carrying on his attack.

The kitten was rushed to an emergency vet in Rosebery, but staff were unable to revive it.

Police attended, but Katwal was too drunk to be interviewed.

However, he was arrested 24 hours later but told officers that he couldn't recall what had happened.

The man was found at a hostel, where he was sleeping that night.

He appeared at Downing Centre Local Court, where he pleaded guilty to recklessly beating and killing an animal.

He was convicted and sentenced by Magistrate Miranda Moody.

He was given an 18-month intensive corrections order, to be served in the community, a £1,500 fine, a ban on drinking or purchasing alcohol for 18 months, and a ban on owning animals of any kind for 10 years.

His intensive corrections order will see him serve his time in the community, while under strict supervision by Community Corrections officials.

In Australia, it is the most serious sentence that can be carried out in the community and only happens if the sentence is under two years.
