A huge earthquake measuring between 5.8 and 6.4 on the Richter scale has been recorded off the coast of Greece.
Tremors have been felt across the eastern Mediterranean with reports suggesting it was felt as wide as Turkey, Egypt, Syria and Israel.
It is unclear whether it has caused any injuries yet but the epicentre is believed to have been close to the island of Faliraki.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (ESMC) posted on Twitter: "This M6.4 #earthquake was felt in Eastern Mediterranean Sea, SOUTHERN GREECE, SOUTHERN GREECE."
It later said the quake had happened around 219k south of Rodos.
One person reported online that the felt the earthquake in Helwan, near the Egyptian capital Cairo.
CCTV footage supposedly take in Crete in the aftermath of the earthquake shows shop shelves swaying as the building shakes.
Items can be seen falling to the floor, but furniture does not topple in the clip.
It comes a week after the holiday hotspot of Crete was hit by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake, sparking a tsunami warning.
The quake struck the east coast of the island at a depth of 10km under the village of Palekastro, according to the US Geological Survey.
It was the second earthquake in two weeks to hit Crete.
