A Wagner mercenary has revealed warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin trained his forces to kill Ukrainian women and children by throwing grenades through their windows and doors before entering their homes to ‘finish them off’.
The fighter, Maksim Zelenov, confessed that Prigozhin, who is believed to have been assassinated in a plane crash last month, told him how to kill Wagner-style when invading villages in Ukraine.
In a video, the former police officer is asked by human rights activist Vladimir Osechkin: ‘Who gave the order – two grenades into a window, two grenades into a door, and then walk in and finish off [the wounded]?’
Zelenov, seen on the video under the name Wagner man 1, replied: ‘Prigozhin himself. Yes, I killed many people.’
Osechkin asked: ‘Among those killed, how many elderly, adult people, and how many children were there?’
Zelenov responded: ‘When we got to that 5-storey block of flats, we definitely killed about 40 people.’

Chernyavsky, a former police officer identified as Wagner man 2 in the video, stressed again the orders he was given.
‘They were saying when we take over towns and villages, and get into houses, we will be killing women and children,’ he said.
‘Before entering premises, we had to throw a grenade, then get inside and if women and children inside are wounded, not killed, then to finish them off – because they are Ukrainians.
‘We had to kill everyone. We are Wagner, we kill everyone.’
The sickening admissions come as Ukraine’s military intelligence agency has said it cannot confirm the death of Wagner warlord Prigozhin in a plane crash last month.

It comes amid a wave of conspiracy theories that the Wagner boss may have cheated death by putting a body double on his doomed business jet which crashed in Russia on 23 August.
Many in the West believe he was assassinated at the behest of Vladimir Putin in revenge for the coup he led in June against the dictator’s regime.
Ukrainian military intelligence spokesman Andrey Yusov said Kyiv is sure that Wagner military commander Dmitry Utkin, 53, died in the air crash in Russia’s Tver region along with other Prigozhin associates.
But as to Prigozhin – whose death was announced by the Russian authorities based on DNA evidence – he said: ‘We must operate with confirmed facts, we still need to wait.’
He said: ‘I will simply focus on the fact that we can confirm the death of Utkin and several other associates of Prigozhin.’

He said that with Prigozhin ‘not all questions are closed yet’.
Telegram channel Brief said that Russia has classified all details of the air crash in which the warlord is said to have died.
‘According to insiders, the case of the crash of the Embraer aircraft has been classified as ‘secret’, and special control has been established over the materials of the case, so that no information can leak to the media without authorisation,’ said a report.
Russian political analyst Dr Valery Solovoy believes security-paranoid Prigozhin is still alive, having cheated death when his Embraer Legacy 600 jet crashed.
‘[He] is enjoying life at a very good resort,’ in a foreign country but not in Africa where Wagner has multiple deployments.
Solovoy said he would reveal which country has given Prigozhin a safe haven.
