A 22-year-old woman has been left speechless after receiving what she describes as a “disgusting” message on a dating app.
Stephanie Campbell from Merseyside was left shocked when she saw the message a recent match had sent her on Hinge on September 26.
The man, who had liked one of Stephanie’s pictures, sent her a message that read “yeah f**k it you’ll do”, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Stephanie decided to share the message on Twitter with the caption “Again. Speechless. Someone should tell me this is a joke”.
The image has been retweeted thousands of times and, although Stephanie said she has had hundreds of messages of support, she has also received more abusive messages.
She said: "I'd matched with him, but I hadn't been on the app for a couple of days. I saw the message, but I didn't let it faze me because it happens quite regularly.
"I feel like it's quite a regular thing with dating apps because I feel like people don't take them seriously. It really shouldn't be the case, messages like this don't really bother me and I try and take the mick out of them.
"I try and have a bit of banter with them, but I know there are other people out there that will take this badly.
"I probably get about one or two messages like this a week. I think the problem is people know they're not going to meet the people they're talking to. There are girls who will probably take messages like this to heart."
Steph said that the man has now unmatched her “out of embarrassment” after her tweet went viral but she's been forced to deal with more unpleasant messages.
She has now “taken a break from Twitter” after more “disgusting” messages from men who have created fake accounts to contact her.
Steph said: "People have even messaged me afterwards saying I don't deserve anything better than that. I receive quite a bit of abuse online, it's mainly people making fake accounts to message me.
"These men would never speak to women like this in person, but they feel like they can do it from behind a screen.
"Stuff like this really puts me off dating apps, I feel like you never really go on a dating app to meet the love of your life.
"Everyone has bad experiences. It is a common thing to do when you're single, a lot of people don't take it seriously, but I feel like it does put you off the experience."

Despite the messages, Steph said she has made a number of friends on Hinge but said dating apps need to do more to educate users.
She said: "I have actually met some amazing people on there and we've gone on to become great friends. You do get some people on there who are horrible which is a shame.
"Sadly, there is always the potential of risk and that people can take advantage of you when you go out. Messages like this show that there are men who don't like women.
"You just learn to laugh it off. You need to have thick skin, but it shouldn't have to be like that."
