Woman arrested in murder of boyfriend’s father: NYPD

The woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend’s adoptive father to death in Manhattan this week claimed she did it because the older man raped her, according to a criminal complaint.

Cassandra Carter, 27, was arrested and charged in connection to the death of Jerry Fox, 71, who was found around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday inside the second-floor apartment on Seaman Avenue near West 207th Street in Inwood, cops said.

Responding authorities found a fire escape ladder pulled down, and spotted Carter as she started to walk away, prosecutors said. When a sergeant called out to her, she sped up, but then stopped.

“The guy in the apartment raped me,” she told the sergeant, according to the complaint. “I did what I had to do. I think he’s dead. I cut him and he cut me. I sprayed him with roach spray. He’s in the apartment where I left him.”

It wasn’t immediately clear whether there is any corroboration of the rape claim.

Questioned about Carter’s statement, the NYPD said that it “takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously, and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a police report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors.”

Carter gave the sergeant the key to their apartment, where authorities found Fox unconscious on the floor, in a pool of blood, prosecutors said.

He had numerous slash and puncture wounds to several parts of his body, including his neck, torso, legs, and hands, prosecutors said. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Neighbors told The Post on Wednesday that the relationship between Fox and the couple was contentious, and that there were domestic scuffles in the past.

Carter was arraigned Thursday afternoon on a second-degree murder charge and ordered held without bail, according to the Manhattan DA’s Office. Her next court appearance is on Monday.
