Young mum baffled by scolding letter from neighbour accusing her of calling them idiots and putting her 'special rubbish' in others' bins

A YOUNG mum has told how she was left in shock after receiving a letter from her neighbours accusing her of calling them idiots – and asking her not to put her “special rubbish” in their bins.

Lucii Cockshott, from Silsden, West Yorkshire, received a sealed envelope with a letter addressed to her husband Danny, from her neighbours Kev and Donna.

The couple accused Lucii of putting “special rubbish” in other people’s bins, and signed off as “Neighbours who did respect you”.

The letter reads: “It’s probably best you don’t refer to your neighbours as …. ‘idiots’ – when speaking to your mates outside your house in a loud voice, on a Sunday morning. It’s just one day you may need the people who live around you.

“Also: a) we’re not idiots.

“b) Many of us don’t go to work at 9am, because we are retired or work shifts.

“c) Yes Bin day is Tuesday, but please don’t fill our bins with your ‘special rubbish’ – use your own bins.

“Thanks.

“Kev and Donna (Neighbours who did respect you).”

Mum-of-two Lucii, 27, has been trying to work out just who Kev and Donna are after receiving the note, so they can explain the letter to her.

She posted a photo of the letter on a local Facebook page, where users have dubbed it “bingate”.

Speaking on the note, body piercer Lucii said: “When I got the letter I thought it was ridiculous.

“That someone would take the time out to switch on a computer and write a letter to then put it in an envelope and seal it, then I was a little angry that they were too much of coward to state which house the letter was from, so it can't be resolved because I don't know who kev and donna are or where they live.

“I'm also confused about the letter. I have no idea what they mean by 'special rubbish' and I don't understand what they are getting at about not all of us start work at 9am, some people are retired and others work shifts. Nothing was spoke about working.

“We work six days a week and only time we have together as a family is a Sunday.

“We are a young family and trying our best for our children.

“But it seems that's not good enough for some of the neighbours round here.

“Maybe they would prefer for us to be on benefits popping out kids for money and have parties every weekend, that would give them something to complain about.”

The mum-of-two says she has a good relationship with her next-door neighbour, and believes the comment about putting her “special rubbish” in people’s bins is because Kev and Donna saw them put black bags in their neighbour’s bins.

Lucii’s neighbour lets the young mum put rubbish in her bins when hers are full because there are more of them in the house, and she can spare the room.

Lucii added: “Our next door neighbour is lovely, she doesn't mind us putting the odd bag in on the day of the bins being emptied, it's nothing major.

“It's rubbish that's going to the same place that we will never see again at the end of day.

“We are a quiet family, don't go out drinking, and keep ourselves to ourselves.

“I think because the neighbours round here are a lot older then us and we are a young family, they look down on us.”
