Denver gas prices more than $1 per gallon higher than a year ago – The Denver Post

Denver gas prices have risen again in the past week, up another 1.9 cents per gallon, according to GasBuddy. The Mile High City’s average price at the pump is now $3.45 per gallon, up 28.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and $1.01 per gallon more than a year ago.

The national average of gas has slowed its rise, only up 0.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.13 per gallon on Monday. That’s up 5 cents per gallon in the past month and 93.7 cents per gallon since last year.

“While the national average has seen a slight rise over the last week, we may see some stabilization coming to the pump as oil prices hold just under their 2021 peak from last week,” said the head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy Patrick De Haan in a news release. “Without additional crude oil supply coming online in the weeks ahead, we could see oil test $80 per barrel in the next couple of weeks.”

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station around Denver is priced at $3.23 per gallon at multiple stations in Aurora, while the most expensive is $3.89 per gallon at the Conco station on Speer Boulevard. That’s a difference of 75.0 cents per gallon.

“With U.S. gasoline demand falling slightly last week, we may have already seen peak consumption with the July 4 holiday,” De Haan said. “While the jury isn’t quite in on that just yet, we’re potentially only 4-6 weeks away from gas prices beginning a seasonal decline that we’re likely all eagerly awaiting.”
