Talk TV host Mike Graham slammed Boris Johnson after he announced another £54m package in support to Ukraine during his visit in Kyiv on Ukraine’s Independence Day. Referring to the current energy crisis the UK is facing and Mr Johnson’s mandate close to an end, Mr Graham criticised the move from the outgoing prime minister and said “I’d rather see him do something at home before he leaves”. The UK has committed more than £2.3bn of military and financial support to Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion in February.

Speaking at Talk TV, Mr Graham said: “I would rather see him actually give some money to some British people because we’re in the middle of a cost of living crisis.

“In the end he’s given £54m to Ukraine.

“He says he can’t do anything here because he’s not really Prime Minister anymore.

“I’d rather see him do something at home before he leaves.”

The comments came as Talk TV panelist JJ Anisiøbi said: “I would advise Boris Johnson in his final days to spread some light on the other conflicts in the world because the head of the World Health Organisation himself said that Tigray is the greatest humanitarian criss in the world today, not Ukraine.

“They’ve only been given £47m to Tigray and we’ve pledged £2.3bn to the Ukraine.

“We’ve done more than enough for them.

“The only difference is that Tigray people are brown skinned and Ukrainians are Europeans.”

Talk TV host David Bull disagreed with the panelist’s remarks and pointed out: “No, there is war in Europe, on our doorstep.”

Mr Graham then concluded: “It’s a matter of nationals security, I don’t think it’s racism at all.

“That’s nonsense, the money might go to Tigray or it might go to other parts of the world where there are war.

“I think there is no doubt that Britain is part of NATO and NATO is under threat from Russia attacking Ukraine.

“It’s as simple as that, we have to support”.

The comments came as Boris Johnson announced a further £54m package of military support to Ukraine, including unmanned surveillance and missile systems.

Referring to the current energy crisis in the UK and Europe, Mr Johnson stressed Russia is to blame for the soaring energy bills the country is facing, but stressed: “If we’re paying in our energy bills for the evils of Vladimir Putin, the people of Ukraine are paying in their blood”.

Speaking from Kyiv, he said: “What happens in Ukraine matters to us all, which is why I am here today to deliver the message that the United Kingdom is with you and will be with you for the days and months ahead, and you can and will win”.

Experts have warned the UK could see a £1,600 increase in the domestic energy price cap to more than £3500 this autumn.

Exact figures are expected to be released on Friday, when energy regulator Ofgem is set to announce the price cap for this autumn.
