Nicola Sturgeon has been lambasted over a plan to deploy physiotherapists to fix Scotland’s waiting time crisis. The exorbitant £10m package was unveiled by Scottish Health Secretary Humza Yousaf on Tuesday. It will allow more staff to be on duty on key public holidays while hospital rotas will be filled with more allied health professionals and social care workers.
Scottish Tories have called the plan “SNP-generated chaos.” They said: “Once again Humza Yousaf and the SNP Government are doing too little, too late, to address problems that should have been foreseen months ago.”
But Mr Yousaf is sure that the plan would prevent patients from being admitted to hospital unnecessarily.
This comes as more than 100 military medics have been called in to hurry along Scotland’s vaccine programme.
Ms Sturgeon will give her weekly pandemic update at Holyrood today and is set to give an update on the current public health situation and the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
