Nicola Sturgeon’s plan to join EU thrashed as Scotland has ‘nothing to offer’ to bloc

Boris Johnson is ‘scared’ of democracy says Nicola Sturgeon

TalkRadio host and commentator James Whale insisted Scotland would not rejoin the European Union as an equal partner. Speaking to Scottish journalist and independence campaigner, Michael Sturrock, Mr Whale insisted it would be foolish for Nicola Sturgeon to push Scotland into leaving the UK to try and join the EU now. He said the UK has just regained its sovereignty and claimed the EU was a “failing” and flawed organisation.

Mr Whale said: “The breakup of the United Kingdom would be rather stupid as far as I am concerned.

“Because the UK has just got its sovereignty back and if Scotland wants to join the EU and become a member of the European Union, a failing organisation.

“A failing organisation that was trying to build and has tried to build an empire of Europe.

“It can’t even get its people vaccinated, it is a terrible organisation.

“If you want to be a part of that, good luck to you because that is all I have got to say.”

Mr Sturrock sarcastically thanked Mr Whale for his gesture of good luck.

He replied: “I think that is a slightly unfair characterisation.

“The UK has been doing extraordinarily well, it has to be said, at vaccinating the population.

“But the EU is not too far behind in global terms.

“There are so many problems with the EU and I would be happy to admit that.

“But it is a case of when Scotland does eventually join the EU it will be joining as an equal partner.”

TalkRadio host Ash Gould argued that it might be better to wait a year or two after Brexit before pushing to leave.

Mr Whale interrupted to insist Scotland had nothing to offer the EU in the first place.

He said: “It won’t be joining as an equal partner, you will be a junior partner with very little to offer.

“You will be one of the smallest countries in the EU.”

Mr Gould added that there was a hierarchy in the European Union with Germany at the top, France following and insisted Scotland would not be among one of the top countries.
