9NEWS hires meteorologist Chris Bianchi to forecast in English, Spanish

Meteorologist Chris Bianchi will be working at 9NEWS come May 27.

The bilingual forecaster will be tasked with giving weather reports in English and Spanish for KUSA over the air and digitally in a hybrid role, including a lot of work on the network’s streaming channels.

Bianchi, a former freelancer for The Denver Post, most recently worked as a weatherman for Spectrum News 1 in Los Angeles. He had also spent six years working in Denver for WeatherNation TV, becoming quite popular with Colorado’s online weather community.

“With my new position at 9NEWS, I am proud to announce that I will also be making forecasts in Spanish,” Bianchi tweeted in Spanish on Friday. “May my forecasts in Spanish help support the Hispanic community in Colorado.”

“I apologize in advance for my Chilean accent,” he joked.

Bianchi has degrees from Mississippi State and Boston University; he has also covered politics and sports in Colorado, where he has lived for 11 years.

Meteorologist Kylie Bearse recently left 9NEWS to join FOX 31.
