Colorado road conditions: Overnight snowstorm causing tough morning commute

There have been several crashes on Colorado’s roads Thursday morning after an overnight snowstorm dumped as much as 11 inches in some areas. While there was not a lot of accumulation in Denver, getting into the city has been challenging.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has 315 plows out treating roads. Snow remains on some highways, but most roads in the metro area are just slick.

The worst of the traffic is on Interstate 25. The northbound lanes of the highway have seen several crashes between I-25 and Interstate 70. At one point, there were a handful of crashes on I-25, all near the University of Denver.

There are also more crashes on the southbound side of I-25, with lanes blocked near Arapahoe Road.

Essentially every road that ventures into the mountains has traction laws in effect.
