Donald Trump misses out on $1,000 per head NYE bash as Melania’s decor makes him ‘moody’

Donald Trump and Melania deliver their Christmas message

The US President flew back to Washington DC with the First Lady on Thursday in order to discuss the coronavirus relief bill in Congress. His return to DC following Christmas celebrations meant he had to skip Mar-a-Lago’s lavish New Year’s Eve gala, attended by his children.

One person attending people attending the event told DailyMail.com that people attending the $1,000 per-head ticketed event had to either be members of the club or a guest of a member in order to be admitted.

Images of the event showed guests failing to wear face coverings despite the ballroom typically hosting hundreds of people.

It is unclear how many guests were in attendance this year, but by Wednesday at least 500 tickets had been reserved, according to CNN.

As well as members of the Trump family, Mr Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliany was spotted at the event.

No official statement has been made regarding Mr Trump’s reason for leaving Mar-a-Lago ahead of the New Year’s eve party.

However, Mr Trump had allegedly been in a dark mood over the festive period after seeing renovations done at Mar-a-Lago under Ms Trump’s supervision.

According to CNN, he was immediately infuriated by the renovation work designed by the First Lady and her interior decorator, Tham Kannalikham, which he saw three days before Christmas.

One of the sources told the news outlet Mr Trump was “not happy” with the decor.

The insider added that Loud conversations started taking place between President Trump and management at the exclusive resort once he discovered the changes to the property.

Some of the new decorations made of materials such as white marble and dark wood were promptly taken down upon Mr Trump’s request, according to the source.

President Trump allegedly seemed “moody” for days after the discovery and spent more time indoors than usual.

Another source told CNN “the vibe was off” this Christmas at the resort in contrast with previous years.
