Donald Trump to launch new Patriot Party to keep Republicans ‘split’ in run-up to 2024

Donald Trump: Graffy discusses possibility of ‘Patriot Party’

Colleen Graffy said hardline Donald Trump supporters and QAnon conspiracy theorists would migrate from the Republican Party to the former President’s potential Patriot Party. Ms Graffy said she believes this could be good since it will allow the Republicans to start anew and distance itself from Trump’s election defeat. The law professor added she would be happy if the “Cult of Trump” moved away from the Republicans as she believes they have nothing to do with the party’s “character or qualities”.

Speaking to Iain Dale on LBC about the new party plans, Ms Graffy said: “It will be a problem for the Republican party because if Trump has a third party it means that the Republican party will be always split.

“Now, from the point of view of Republicans who care about the Republican Party being one of values and caring about character.

“I think that there will be a lot of support of the idea that those Republicans that are really following a Cult of Trump, are conspiracy theorists, QAnon, that they will be hived off into this Patriot Party would actually be a positive thing.

“Right now the Republican Party is trying to figure out how do we start anew.

“And either you have to say that this group is part of the Republican Party.

“Which goes against everything I, as a lifelong Republican, believed in as they have nothing to do with the qualities and characters of the Republican Party that I knew.

“So either the Republican Party absorbs them or Trump hives off into the Patriot Party and perhaps those elements follow Trump.”
