The son of the notorious Mexican drug lord 'El Chapo' is accused of ordering the killing of a famous singer after they refused to perform at his wedding.
The United States Department of State (DoS) made the allegation against Ovidio Guzman Lopez, who is the son of former drug lord Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, also known as 'El Chapo'.
According to the DoS, Ovidio Guzman, 31, ordered the killing of a famous Mexican singer, who has yet to be named, for turning down the opportunity to perform on his special day.
It has not been revealed whether or not the killing was actually carried out.
Over the years, there have been rumours over possible links between artists and drug dealers.
According to widespread reports, famous singers and actors have participated in events organised by drug traffickers.
El Chapo is currently serving a life sentence at ADX Florence in Colorado, US, for murder, money laundering, drug trafficking, racketeering and organised crime.
The US authorities are now looking at his four children, including Ovidio, known as 'El Raton' ('The Rat'), who is a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel.

His brothers Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar, Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar and Joaquin Guzman Lopez are also among 25 suspects wanted by the US authorities for trafficking synthetic opioids.
According to the DoS: “The Guzman-Lopez brothers are currently overseeing approximately eleven methamphetamine labs in the state of Sinaloa producing an estimated 3,000-5,000 pounds of methamphetamine per month.”
In addition to ordering the unnamed singer's alleged murder, Ovidio has also ordered the killing of informants and a drug trafficker, according to the DoS.

Ovidio was arrested in his hometown of Culiacan in October 2019 but he was not in police custody for very long.
He was freed after his heavies threatened mass civilian deaths in retaliation for his arrest.
The DoS is currently offering a reward of up to $5 million (£3.8million) for any information leading to his arrest and/or conviction of Ovidio.

The nephew of El Chapo has also been involved in an incident after allegedly being filmed shooting in a nightclub, injuring one person.
Aureliano Guzmán Araujo, known as El Guanito, was captured in CCTV footage at the club in Culiacan City, Mexico, reports The Sun.
However, reports suggest that frightened police decided to let Aureliano go in fear of retaliation.
