BBC Weather forecaster Ben Rich warned there would be heavy rain and thunderstorms for much of central Europe. He noted that there would be pockets of hot and dry weather over the weekend. However, for the majority, there will be periods of rainfall.
Mr Rich said: “We have seen some unusually warm weather over the last few days in the eastern and northeastern parts of Europe.
“But further west it has been cool and it has been unsettled.
“You can see multiple weather systems bringing showers and longer spells of rain.
“There is another frontal system west of Europe and that will introduce rain to the Republic of Ireland and the south-west of the UK on Friday.”

The BBC Weather forecaster noted that despite the heavy rain, temperatures across Europe still remain in the mid-teens.
There are pockets of warm and dry weather, like in the south east of Europe.
However, over the weekend rain and wet weather is expected to reach those areas as well.
Mr Rich continued: “It will be a cool story on Friday for many parts.

“As we move through Friday night into Saturday this western front runs into the south of the UK.
“It will also hit a good part of France and northern Spain.
“There is another area of low pressure bringing some heavy downpours through Italy into the Balkans and parts of Greece.
“There will be some warmth in Spain and Portugal but in the far north of Spain there will be clouds and outbreaks of rain.”

The weather forecaster went into greater detail on how extensive the wet and stormy weather will be over the weekend for parts of central and northern Europe.
Mr Rich said: “Across this northern swathe of Europe it is just a story of heavy showers, thunderstorms, some strong and gusty winds.
“Temperatures will be disappointing for the time of year as well.
