Frankie and Benny’s and Chiquito close tomorrow – full list of 17 axed eateries

Frankie and Benny's and Chiquito are set to close the doors of their restaurants across the UK for the final time tomorrow (May 27).

Owners The Restaurant Group announced earlier this year that it was looking to save an eye-watering £5million by closing “loss-making” restaurants.

Around 35 of the restaurants were identified, with 17 of them shutting for good this weekend.

Of those 17, 12 of them are Frankie and Benny sites, four are Chiquito restaurants and one is the rarely-spotted Firejacks.

It follows the closure of 23 earlier this month, six of which were Frankie and Bennies in Blackpool, Chesterfield, Tamworth and Tunbridge Wells.

A spokesman for TRG said: “We announced a review of our leisure estate in March and made the difficult decision to exit some of our Frankie and Benny's and Chiquito sites.

“We are working closely with our impacted teams and will look to redeploy colleagues to neighbouring sites across our wider estate wherever possible.”

Closure include Frankie and Benny's branches in Aberdeen, Leeds, Livingston and two in Peterborough, while Chiquitos in Leeds and Rochester are among the closures.

The official last day of trading for the restaurants being forced to close is Saturday May 27.

The company has 410 sites across the UK, and also owns Coast to Coast and Wagamamas – no other closures have been announced, while eight new Wagamamas restaurants are actually opening because of an increase in profit for that chain.
