A man who suffered life-changing injuries following a gruesome forklift accident has shared an update after getting out of hospital.

Loren Schauers lost the bottom half of his body after a forklift fell onto him from 50ft in a tragic workplace accident on September 27, 2019.

Last week Loren, from Great Falls in Montana, US, revealed he was back in hospital with an infection. He documents his recovery journey online with help from his wife, Sabia Schauers-Reiche.

Yesterday (Sunday, July 30) a post on his Instagram story showed the couple embracing next to a huge heart-shaped decoration.

The caption read: "We're back to where we should be… home. Out of the hospital."

It came just days after Loren revealed his body was passing a kidney stone. He said last Wednesday (July 26): "Drink water like no other in life. Yet I’m still needing to be put into the E.R (emergency room) for a kidney infection and my body passing a kidney stone.

"Why does there always have to be some catch?"

Loren and Sabia try to keep their followers up to date with his recovery, although sometimes they are unable to do so when his condition deteriorates.

Sabia has previously opened up about how there are some good days and some bad days, saying Loren is often blighted by "considerable pain".

She wrote in a Facebook post on June 25: "Just our Sunday check-in with you all.

"Unfortunately Loren is not having a great day, it's a day with considerable pain so no picture of him today.

"Not every day can be great and wonderful but being the extraordinary guy he is, he's fighting his way through it all. We love you all!"
