Man shot dead by Larimer County deputies is identified.

A man shot dead by Larimer County deputies after a high-speed chase in which the suspect allegedly fire shots at pursuing deputies has been identified.

Douglas Weishaupl, 53, of Loveland, was shot on Thursday after a pursuit that began in Larimer County ended near Mead, in the area of County Road 38 and Interstate 25 Frontage Road, according to the Weld County Coroner’s Office.

The day of the shooting authorities described Weishaupl as a “known fugitive.”

The police shooting remains under investigation by the Weld County Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), led by the Greeley Police Department.
