A mum and her baby have died in the rubble of a Ukraine hospital shelled by Vladimir Putin's Russia.

A shocking photo captured the moment the pair were heartbreakingly pulled from the debris and carried on a stretcher.

The abhorrent scene shows just a couple of the mothers and their infants who were inside the children's hospital in Mariupol when it was bombed last Wednesday.

According to officials in Ukraine, the attack on the hospital left at least 17 people injured, many of whom were pregnant women evacuated from the building on stretchers.

Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson blasted the attack, saying: "There are few things more depraved than targeting the vulnerable and defenceless."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy described the shelling of a hospital by Russia as an act of genocide.

Rescuers spent days digging through the rubble of the destroyed hospital to find survivors, following what America's White House called a "barbaric use of military force to go after innocent civilians".
