BBC correspondent on the background of his exclusive interview with Twitter owner Elon Musk
Linda Yaccarino has tweeted how she is “inspired” by Elon Musk days after being announced as the new Twitter CEO in place of the SpaceX founder. Mr Musk announced his replacement on Friday (May 12).
In a tweet, the billionaire said: “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology.
“Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
Ms Yaccarino, who resigned from her role as chair of advertising sales for NBCUniversal on the same day, has finally broken her silence on the social media platform since the announcement.
She responded: “Thank you Elon Musk! I’ve long been inspired by your vision to create a brighter future.

“I’m excited to help bring this vision to Twitter and transform this business together!”
Mr Musk had previously announced he would step down as CEO until he had found someone “foolish enough to take the job”.
Ms Yaccarino’s move to the social media company appeared predictable following her leaving her previous employer “effective immediately” after 12 years at the company.
She had spent 12 years at NBCUniversal, having worked at Turner Entertainment for 15 years prior.
Chief media correspondent at Business Insider Claire Atkinson has kept tabs on Ms Yaccarino’s career closely.

Speaking to the BBC, she said: If Twitter are looking to monetise better than they have been, then that would be the place to start and Linda would be the ideal person to make that happen.
“She’s the kind of person that I can imagine Elon Musk needs,” Ms Atkinson added.
“She won’t be rolled over.”
Mr Musk bought Twitter for a whopping $44billion last year, but has had a turbulent time finding someone else to run the company so he can turn his attention to his other business, including Tesla and SpaceX.
In February, Mr Musk reportedly reclaimed the richest person in the world mantra having been previously unseat from the top spot by Bernaud Arnault, CEO of French luxury brand LVMH.
