Prince Harry may cancel his long-awaited trip back to the UK this summer, according to ITV News Royal Editor, Chris Ship.

Mr Ship, while speaking on ITV's Royal Rota, claimed the chances of the Duke of Sussex making the flight over to Britain from California this summer was "no more than 50 percent".

He cited the "clearly tense" relationship between Harry and Prince William as behind the decision, writes the Express.

Harry is scheduled to land on UK soil in a few months in time to install the statute of their mother alongside William, on what would have been Princess Diana's 60th birthday.

Mr Ship explained: "I know the intention is for Harry to come over for his mother's statue on the 1st July.

"I still wonder how all of this will shakedown if they can't even speak to one another and things are still very tense, clearly.

"How is that going to happen? Unless they can sort this out before July but it's fast approaching."

Royal Rota co-host Lizzie Robinson said: "We always thought we would see the brothers reunited on that incredibly important day for both of them to be there to mark their mother's legacy and the statue. But currently, it will be incredibly difficult, won't it?"

Mr Ship added: "I would put it at no more than 50 percent that he will be there.

"Either he will Zoom call into the ceremony and say it's because of the pandemic, or they will have a reason around the birth of their baby girl.

"Something in me just wonders whether he will come at all."

The royal siblings' relationship has been the subject of speculation as of late, after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.

During the tell-all chat, Harry said the brothers were on 'different paths' and there was 'space' between them.

William was reportedly 'upset' with the interview, and felt that the Sussexes had 'disrespected' the queen when they reacted to her ruling no longer allowing them to use the word 'royal' officially.
