Thousands have reported issues on DownDetector, including error messages and connection failures.

People across the world are struggling to access major websites.

The UK Government's webpage has also been affected, along with major news organisations including the New York Times, The Guardian, and the Financial Times.

The issue could be connected with Fastly, a cloud computing company that offers services to a range of websites, The Independent reports.

Streaming site Twitch is also not working for users.
