Sick paedophile to be chemically castrated before release from prison sentence

A sick paedophile has been ordered to undergo chemical castration after being thrown in jail for 35 years.

Ryan Clark was found guilty of several charges, including second-degree rape, molestation of a juvenile under 13 and sexual battery.

The 34-year-old Amite, Louisiana-native pleaded guilty to the charges, earlier this week, and was given the lengthy jail term.

And Judge Brian Ables also ordered that Clark make no contact with the victims, register as a sex offender for life, forfeit all parental rights to all children and submit to chemical castration upon release.

Much of the details of what Clark actually did have been kept away from the public, but his case was first brought to the attention of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office in July 2020 after a child told of Clark's behaviour to a person of trust.

The child was then interviewed at officials at a local children's advocacy centre, before another victim was found and Clark was arrested.

He was previously convicted in 2015 on a misdemeanour of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and was sentenced to 128 days in jail.

Chemical castration of sexual offenders is done with injections of an anti-androgenic drug called Medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), which suppresses a man's sex drive.

The drug was made legal in Louisiana in 2008.

Former Governor Bobby Jindal signed the bill into law to impose drug treatments on those found guilty of certain crimes, including molestation of a juvenile, aggravated rape, forcible rape, second-degree sexual battery, aggravated incest and aggravated crime against nature.

The injections are to be given at least one week before a convicted sex offender is released from prison.

It has been confirmed that Clark stands a chance at being released early – but he must spend 25 years minimum behind bars.

By the time he is released, and has to have the procedure, he will be at least 59-years-old minimum.
