A married teacher has avoided jail after a teenage pupil of hers admitting to having sex with her and said that the relationship “felt a little weird” afterwards.
Stephanie Renee Almand did not contest her third-degree sexual assault change for sleeping with a pupil from Maumelle High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States in 2021.
The 30-year-old mum-of-one had two sexual encounters at her home between April 5 and May 5, 2021.

Maumelle Police was told by two students that the classmate, who was 17 at the time, had been "dating" and having sex with Almand.
One student told investigators that Almand's relationship with the classmate was "odd" in that she treated him differently from other students, and showed him preferential treatment while spending a lot of time with the boy.
The student said Almand and the unnamed pupil wrote each other notes which were hidden in waste bins.
A second student revealed he'd heard rumours that Almand was having sex with the 17-year-old and also confirmed the notes claim.
Another student told police Almand and their classmate were "closer than they should've been".
The student lover was quizzed by cops and revealed he had sex with her, stating that their interactions began in a text exchange when she told him she liked him.
Almand had invited him to her home on two occasions and they had sex each time, stating that their most recent encounter had been a few weeks before the arrest.

He said their relationship was more than just sex and that he also did school work at her house and they would talk.
The teen lover told detectives he "felt a little weird" after having sex with Almand and described how he told her he wanted to end things after their second encounter.
“It wasn't what I expected,” he admitted to police.
“It sounded like a good idea at first but once it actually happened, it felt a little weird.
“After I went over to her house the second time I told her I didn't want to do it anymore.

“She's a grown woman and I need to be messing around with people my own age – I just got to thinking about it one day.”
He said Almand was understanding, telling police that their relationship came to the attention of authorities just after he had ended things with her.
She was given a probationary sentence imposed by Pulaski County Circuit Judge Leon Johnson, and will also pay a fine of around £1,300 as well as submitting to regular drug testing.
In addition, the judge told her to stay away from her accuser under penalty of further criminal charges.
