Three people shot, one dead, in Adams County early Saturday morning.

A homicide investigation is underway after multiple shots were fired early Saturday morning in Adams County.

The incident happened at about 1:50 a.m. in the 7900 block of Hollywood Street, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies, responding to a report of shots fired, found a woman on the street who had been shot several times and a man who had been beaten. Both victims were taken to University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

At about 3:30 a.m. two men who had been shot showed up together, in a private vehicle, at North Suburban Medical Center, a news release said. One man was dead on arrival and the other man had been shot in the hip.

A preliminary investigation reveals that the woman who was shot was leaving a gathering at a residence on Hollywood Street, along with the man who was beaten, when a vehicle pulled up, the sheriff’s office said. There was a confrontation, perhaps an attempted robbery, the office said. A scuffle ensued and multiple shots were fired.

Investigators believe the man shot dead and the man shot in the hip were involved in the Hollywood Street incident. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 720-322-1202 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 (STOP).
