Eric Adams recalls kids’ emotional damage in horrifying Bronx shooting
The traumatized siblings who survived the wild shooting in the Bronx were all smiles on Sunday — as special guests at the Yankees game.
Mia, 13, and her 5-year-old brother, Christian, grinned and waved from their box seats at Yankee Stadium, where they and their family watched the Bronx Bombers defeat the Oakland Athletics, 2-1.
“Today they are guests of the Yankees who stand with them,” the team said while tweeting out a clip of them at the game.
The fun-filled outing came three days after the pair found themselves in the middle of a terrifying shooting just steps from their family’s apartment in the Bronx.
Chilling video shows a gunman repeatedly firing at his victim — who knocks over the two siblings as they head to a nearby store.
Miraculously, neither child was hit in the hail of bullets.
Their parents had planned to speak about the terrifying shooting on Sunday, but little Christian was still too traumatized for his father to leave his side.
“It’s heart-wrenching — there is still so much pain and trauma,” Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. said in explaining their absence.
He hailed Mia as “the bravest little soul” because her “first instinct was to protect” her young brother.
Mayoral hopeful Eric Adams said the children “will never be the same.”
“We need to catch this bastard … He had a total disregard for those children,” said Adams, who has put forward $2,000 of his own money as a reward to catch the callous attacker.
The shooter fired at least 12 rounds, hitting his 24-year-old target three times. The victim is expected to survive, police have said.
No arrests have been made.
