Tributes to girl, 15, killed after being hit by a bus in Sheldon as pals pay tribute to teen who was 'always happy' | The Sun

TRIBUTES are pouring in for a "happy" schoolgirl who tragically died after being hit by a bus.

Sophie Fletcher, 15, has been named locally as the youngster who died in Birmingham at the weekend.

The 15-year-old was struck on Sheaf Lane in Sheldon just before 3pm on Saturday.

Emergency services raced to the scene and Sophie was rushed to hospital, where she was confirmed dead a short time later.

West Midlands Police said the driver was helping with its inquiries.

Sophie was a student at Euphoria Dance and teacher Catriona O'Brien paid tribute to the youngster.

Yesterday cops were urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

PC Gail Arnold, of the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "A young girl has tragically died and we'll be doing all we can to support her family during this deeply distressing time.

"We're working to establish the circumstances behind the collision and we're keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, and especially anyone with dashcam footage."

Anyone with information is urged to email [email protected] or use the online Live Chat quoting log 2467 of March 18.

A JustGiving page was set up yesterday by Sophie's uncle Anthony Hasson, hoping to raise £5,000 to help her family with funeral costs.

Anthony wrote: "It is with a deep heart that we have to say goodbye to our beautiful niece Sophie, who tragically lost her life yesterday at 15 years old in a road traffic accident.

"We are looking to raise a bit of help for her loving parents to ease the burden of funeral costs at this most devastating of times.

"Any help we receive will be so gratefully be passed over to her loving mother who is understandably grieving the worst pain any parent could ever go through.
