Two more teens arrested as Brighton police investigate shooting near Prairie View High School

Brighton police announced Friday that they’ve arrested two more teens as they investigate a shooting near schools earlier this week that may have involved students.

The two were arrested and booked into the Prairie Vista Youth Services Detention Center Thursday afternoon, according to a Brighton Police Department statement.

The shooting Wednesday led to temporary lockdowns at schools. Police responding to reports of shots fired shortly after noon found shell casings in the intersection of 9th Avenue and Bush Street, a couple blocks north of Brighton High School — but no victims. One victim went to a hospital for injuries characterized as not life-threatening, police said later.

That day, police arrested six teens and later released them after questioning.

Police on Wednesday went to the Prairie View High School area where they found a vehicle suspected to have been involved. Prairie View High was placed on lockdown, and other schools in the area temporarily were placed on secure status.

The authorities had not filed charges in this case.
