UK weather: 29C scorcher to hit today… and it's only going to get HOTTER as ten day heatwave bakes Britain | The Sun

BRITS will be treated to a 29C scorcher today – and it's only going to get hotter with a ten day heatwave due to bake Britain.

Yet another heatwave will sweep across the UK just in time for families to enjoy the school holidays.

Today temperatures will reach a balmy 29C – but by Thursday the mercury will have soared to 30C.

The hot weather is expected to last well into next week, but won’t reach the red hot temperatures Brits saw in July.

Forecaster say temperatures are likely to be well below the record breaking temperatures seen during the last heatwave, when they peaked above 40C in a number of areas.

This month’s temperatures are being caused by an African plume which has already swept across Europe.

Forecaster Stephen Dixon told The Sun: “Temperatures over the next week are set to head up – especially in southern areas of the UK.

“There's a chance that heatwave criteria could be met in some places in the middle of next week with temperatures in the 30s.

“For a heatwave definition for us that would have to hit a certain threshold depending on the area for three days running."

It comes after environment minister George Eustice has called to ban the whole country from using their hose pipes.

More than two million Brits across Kent and Sussex have already been banned from watering their gardens, cleaning their cars or filling up pools with hose pipes.

And they face fines of up to £1,000 if the break the rules from Friday.

South East Water insisted it had "no choice" to implement the ban, which it says will reduce the amount of water that needs to be taken from "already stressed local water sources".
