A freak accident involving a tree falling into a swimming pool has killed one woman who was swimming at the time.
The horror accident killed a woman in her 50s, with the unnamed woman said to have been taking her regular dive into the swimming pool in The Bronx, New York City, on Monday.
A large tree is said to have fallen onto the woman, killing her instantly as it crashed into the waters of a pool behind the River Terrace Apartments of Palisades Avenue.

Another older woman in the pool was struck by the tree and rushed to hospital.
She is said to be in a critical condition with trauma to the body, but did survive the horrifying accident that left a tree toppling over into the pool.
Resident Miriam Allen is said to have seen the tree fall, and said there were "three or four people" inside of the pool.
Miriam said: "Everybody was screaming ‘help! Help!’. My windows were open, so I heard everything immediately. I looked down and I saw the tree in the swimming pool.
"I knew there was three or four people in it."

According to Miriam neighbouring trees had been savaged by Asian Horned Beetles, but complaints that the pesky insects may have caused the horror accident have not been picked up by authorities.
The City Parks Department has confirmed the tree was not on public property and was the responsibility of the building owner, The Mirror reported.
Mike Gallo, 62, whose wife would often swim with the deceased woman, said: "She swims with her every day, every other day at the same time. They just take laps and they would swim right next to each other.
"So, the fact that one made it and one didn’t was … very, very freakish."
